Prelim Task and Evaluation

The prelim task set me into a group of three students, including Jess Prentice and Katie Dunning who were crucial to our success. The actual task was to create a short film which included the following.

@A brief production diary of the process of who did what and screen shots of group and locations

@Genre conventions to be included

@Task idea, title and script, any music?

@Storyboard

@Shooting schedule

These objectives allowed my group to create an overall outline of our story, these short challenges were perfect for planning the narrative and the plot.

Prelim Evaluation

I worked with Jess Prentice who applied her expertise into editing and filming which was a huge benefit, my other partner was Katie Dunning who helped with acting in the film as the role of my mother. We worked very efficiently as a team and were able to stay fixed on our objectives and motivated to complete the task that was assigned to us. To plan our sequence we used numerous detailed storyboards that set out the locations and scenes that were to be filmed, this process was crucial because otherwise we would be unaware and inconclusive of our decisions. Many factors were taken into account when planning, shooting and editing. Personally a fair deal of research was needed for me to accumulate and prepare myself for this challenge because I have only just been introduced with the subject and its concepts. Our sequence was in my opinion very successful because we were able create and exciting story in just a few minutes and reviews of our performance were particularly positive and comprehensive in response to our production. Alternatively for the next task we produce I will concentrate harder on my acting ability because some scenes in our video were poorly represented.
